SET membership: ETF membership explained.
SET membership refers to the Society for Education and Training’s professional membership offer. The Education Training Foundation now presents it as ETF Membership.
Looking to join, renew or access your account? Start with ETF’s own membership pages. This independent guide explains the terminology; Membership Quest is not ETF or its membership provider.
01/ The name
What happened to SET membership?
The Education Training Foundation’s own website says “SET Membership is now ETF Membership”. Its announcement describes MyETF as the place bringing learning, communities and professional support together. This is the provider’s current explanation, read on 26 October 2026.
Older references to the Society for Education and Training, SET membership and MySET may therefore appear alongside the newer name. Use ETF’s official membership information to check the current offer rather than relying on an older directory or article.
02/ Go to the provider
Joining, fees, renewal and account access.
Eligibility and grade depend on the provider’s requirements. The official ETF membership FAQs explain who can apply, grades, payments, renewal and account questions. Check those requirements against your own role and qualifications.
For current fees, payment options and any concessions, use the provider’s current information. For login or password help, follow the account links from ETF’s official website. Membership Quest does not process ETF applications or manage ETF accounts.
03/ A professional membership example
What does the membership offer cover?
ETF’s published membership offer, an organisation’s own description, connects professional membership with learning, professional recognition, resources and a community of FE and skills professionals. Benefits and eligibility should always be checked with ETF before joining.
For people designing another membership offer, the useful lesson is clarity: explain who it serves, the benefits people can use and the requirements attached to recognition. This is an example to examine, rather than evidence that one offer fits every profession.
Our professional bodies guide explains the broader sector. Member benefits covers designing an offer; membership categories covers grades and eligibility.
04/ A different meaning
Does set membership also mean mathematics?
Yes. Math Insight’s educational definition explains set membership as an element belonging to a set. It is a separate meaning from the professional membership offer discussed here.
