Membership careers

01/ Find a role

Browse the source listings.

Search by title, employer or location, then filter by role level. Each result links to the source page for current availability, the full specification and application instructions.

This board currently uses a United Kingdom employer-source feed. It is a selected set of results, rather than every vacancy in a membership organisation. Roles and location requirements depend on the individual advert.

02/ Choose your scope

Compare membership career paths.

Membership jobs can involve applications, enquiries, renewal administration, relationship development, communications, reporting or leadership. The title alone does not tell you which work the employer expects.

Use the role guides to compare the advertised scope. A small organisation may combine responsibilities that a larger body divides across several teams.

03/ Make your evidence relevant

Show the work behind your experience.

Read the essential criteria before editing your CV. Select examples that show the task, your contribution and the evidence available. Include service experience, careful records and relationship skills where they match the brief.

The Association of Illustrators’ own membership manager specification, an original employer role document, illustrates how membership work can combine recruitment, retention, reporting and contact with members. It is a role example, not a claim that the vacancy is open.

Keep employer and member information confidential. Use anonymised examples and figures you can substantiate, rather than sending a membership database as proof of your work.

04/ Assess the opportunity

Ask what success will require.

Ask which part of the member experience needs attention, what information the team uses and how responsibilities are shared. A target without time, authority or support deserves a follow-up question.

Ask about induction and handover, the membership system and the colleagues you would work with. For a leadership role, clarify budget and board reporting responsibilities. These are application prompts, not a universal job specification.

05/ For hiring organisations

Give candidates a clear brief.

If you are hiring membership staff, use our recruitment for membership organisations hub to discuss the role and process. The job description template and interview questions help turn the brief into consistent selection criteria.

This jobs board links to source advertisements. It does not submit applications, establish a recruitment mandate or imply that listed employers are our clients.
